A Superior Sauna

Superior Woods
At Leisure Concepts, we use only the finest woods available for our Sauna kits. We import special White Spruce from Finnland for our sauna walls. Why use White Spruce? White Spruce is a light wood that contains almost no tannic acid. Cedar and Redwood are loaded with tannic acid that acts as a preservative, making them ideal woods for outdoor use. In a sauna however, tannic acid increases the density of the wood, and causes the surface to become very hot to the touch, hot enough to burn your skin. Tannic acid can also affect the color of your wood over time, causing it to darken with age, and absorb odors. Our special White Spruce has almost no tannic acid, and therefore has a lower in density, stays cool to the touch, stays light in color, and will not absorb odors like cedar and redwood saunas. The White wood comes only from the top 50 feet of each tree where the knots are small, tight, and very beautiful.
Another specially selected wood is an Abachi imported from Africa. This wood is used for the benches, backrest, heater guard, and duckboards. It is a very soft, white wood with no knots at all. It too has no tannic acid, so it stays cool and is very soft and comfortable to sit on. There is no better wood to use for the benches than our Abachi from Africa. It looks like a Balsa wood, but its more durable. The benches are assembled from the bottom with stainless steel screws. No metal is exposed. The top bench runs along the back wall and along the side wall up to the front wall. The lower bench slides in and out, so it can be used for a bench or a step. Simply push it in for easy cleaning of the floor.

Superior Heater Construction
We have the best electric sauna heaters you'll find anywhere. ITs built almost completely from Stainless Steel so it will not rust or corrode. Many inferior sauna heaters use galvanized steel on the interior. Not ours; we use full stainless construction. Our heater walls are designed to allow air flow between the layers so the exterior of the heater stays nice and cool. It also helps the heat move out into the sauna room very quickly for maximum efficiency and shorter pre-heat time.
Notice how our heater has deep wells to place your rocks. Also notice how the rocks come in direct contact with the heater coils. This requires a super high quality heating coil, something you won't find in many other sauna heaters. Because we use super heavy duty heating coils, we are able to place rocks right up against the coils, and this way, the coils provide direct heat to the rocks.

Superior Heater Design and Effectiveness
Our "Smootheat" system: Energy efficient and incredibly effective. Your sauna room will be matched up with an appropriately sized heater. Each heater has 3 coils, and a total output of either 8000, 6000, or 4500 watts. When the heater is first turned on, you get full (8kw, 6kw, or 4.5kw) heat output power to get the sauna up to temperature FAST. As the temperature approaches your set temperature, this smart heater will actually reduce its output to 2/3 of the total wattage. When it gets even closer to your desired temperature, the heater drops its output to 1/3 of its total wattage. This allows the room to maintain your desired temperature better, keeping the rocks hot and ready for water to be poured on them. Also, when water IS poured on the rocks, the heater keeps these rocks warm so your sauna room doesn't cool down when you use water.
Most sauna heaters are either 100% on or 100% off. This is a less energy efficient way to heat your room, as it is much easier to maintain a constant temperature with a smaller output than it is to heat with short burst of high power. So our "Smootheat" system provides nice, steady, smooth, consistent temperature throughout your bathing time.

Superior Rocks and Rock Capacity
Our Sauna Heaters hold almost 80 pounds of rocks; one of the largest rock capacities of any sauna heater. Is that important? Yes, Very! Because of the large rock content, no water makes it through the heater, and all water goes up in steam.
We include the best type of sauna rock with our Saunas: Igneous Rocks. Igneous Rocks are formed under tremendous pressure far below the surface of the Earth. They are very dense rocks with almost no air pockets. In contrast, a smooth river rock, or other sedimentary rock will crack and crumble from repeated heating and cooling, where our igneous rocks will not. The included rocks fit way down in the heater in direct contact with the heating elements. The Direct rock to element contact causes the elements to heat the rocks, and the rocks actually heat the room. This system provides a very soft, even heat. Plenty of water can be used on the hot rocks for that "Thermal Blast" as often as desired. (Add some imported birch, pine, or eucalyptus oil to the water bucket for a GREAT experience!)

Superior Controls
On the accessible side of the heater, you will find your heater controls. The thermostat lets you select the temperature you want, and it holds that temperature using our "Smootheat" system. Then there is the timer. While most sauna heaters simply include a 60 minute timer, we take that a step further by offering a 9 hour delay timer!
Lets say its 11:00pm, and you want to use the sauna before work the next day at 6:30am. You can set the heater to turn on in 7 hours by setting the delay timer. When you enter the sauna at 6:30am, it will be nice, hot, and ready to go. Unless you choose otherwise, the heater will maintain your temperature for one full hour, then shut off.

Superior Build and Installation
This modular, pre-built sauna package includes everything you need to set up a complete sauna in your home. First you connect the base frame together. It's simple, the 4 boards are all marked so there is no question how it goes together. On top of the base frame there are numbers stamped to indicate which wall panel sits on top of which base section. You simply stand all the panels up one after the next, screw the corners together with the provided screws, hook the top of each panel to the one next to it with the provided fasteners, and set the pre built ceiling panels in place. After that, in go the benches, the back rests, the trim and heater... you're almost done.
Just recently, two of us constructed a 5' x 7' unit in under two hours. Its that easy.

Tips for Sauna users to obtain Maximum Health Benefits
1) Enter the sauna, clean and wet
2) Use plenty of water on the rocks. Stay in the sauna until you feel uncomfortable
3) Step out, take a cool shower, cool down for a few minutes, and drink some water or fruit juice.
4) Go back to step #1, repeat steps 1-3 up to 4 times in a row.
5) Finish with a cool shower, cool down, get dressed, and look in a mirror to notice that not only do you feel great, you look great too.
